BANGALORE: SAP, the world's leading provider of business software solutions is tying up with IIMB, creating a flexible platform to disseminate knowledge in education system. Headquartered in Bangalore, SAP India and the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, have arrived at a Memorandum of Understanding under the areas of e-governance and public sector. Terming that e- governance has a wide scope in streamlining the administration, Professor and Dean of IIMB, Shyamal Roy said that SAP would supply study and teaching materials and internally support the institute’s Center for Enterprise Resource Planning, while IIMB’s faculty would collaborate with SAP in the creation, sharing and dissemination of knowledge on e-governance. Pointing out the growing nature of IT business, that still had a lot of untapped potential lurking around corners, Henning Kagermann, CEO and Chairman of Executive Board, said the tie up was to help the governments tap their 25 percent of the $ 1,000 billion IT market. “The MoU was a business proposition, but a tie-up to solve the constrains being faced by the governments and PSUs which would lead to better service to citizens,” he added. IIMB was actively working towards creating such an interactive platform for the cot effective implementation of e-governance, which could usher in competence and overall better functioning of the system and now with SAP India, this plan has arrived at its second step. This form of e-governance is not a new form of administration as many countries in Asia, including Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia had successfully adopted the SAP e-governance platform.
