SAP India to expand headcount by '06

NEW DELHI: Increasing its thrust on the rapidly-growing small and medium business (SMB) market, SAP India today said it will expand its headcount to 3,000 by adding 1,000 professionals to the Bangalore development center by next year. "We are expanding our development center in Bangalore with setting up of another unit in the same campus to address market challenges on a real-time basis. The need of the hour is to improve compliance to drive SMB businesses and integrate business information into a single version of truth across the organization for effective and efficient decision-making," SAP India Director (Marketing) Nagaraj L Bhargava said. SAP is meeting the market demand with mySAP solution. With increased workforce, the IT major has decided to aggressively go after the SMB software market by delivering business solutions to help customers achieve their goals. Pointing out that the company has already signed up 30 customers in the SMB segment during the first quarter of current year against 75 customers it won in 2004 he said SAP expects to exceed last year's growth so far as expanding customer base is concerned. With over 300 SMB customers in its kitty, SAP India sees its small and medium business growing at 2.5 to 3 times that of the Indian market. In the past two years, SAP India recorded 70 percent growth. "We will better our growth this year," he added. In 2004, SAP India added 5 new SMB partners, taking the number of its partners to 10. mySAP All-in-One partners in India include OBT Global, Siemens Information Systems, Bristlecone, Tata Steel, Wipro, CVS IT, Genovate, Unisoft, Caritor and Spectrasoft. SAP's SMB solutions are sold through the certified SAP All-in-One partners who, in turn, understand the needs of small and mid-sized companies as well as the industry's best practices.
