KOLKATA: Russian has invited private business collaborations from India in oil and natural gas, automotives, garments and energy sectors. Addressing a seminar on bilateral trade with Russian Federation and CIS countries here, Russian Ambassador Vyacheslav Ivanovich Trubnikov said bilateral trade between India and the Russian federation had immense potential and urged more participation like the ONGC’s Sakhalin I project. Russian companies having expertise in modernization in of oil and coalmines can form business collaborations for growth, he said. Similarly, regional level collaboration in the fields of automotive and garments also existed apart from the military technical collaboration already in operation between both the countries, he said. Calling for more private-to-private collaborations in potential business areas apart from the government-to-government level collaborations, Trubnikov said Russian companies could also extend help to the Indian companies in the energy sector, where it enjoys experience in the nuclear power sector. "We should look for more balanced approach for growth rather than lament on the declining trend in the trade through the rupee-rouble route. Nothing is imposed on India and both sides should sit down and solve the problem," he said.
