Robots play soccer at IIT-Guwahati

GUWAHATI: India is still reeling under the soccer craze, the latest testimony being technology. For students at IIT-Guwahati, off late organized an exclusive soccer match, which had robots as the players. As a part of the institute’s technical fest called ‘Techniche’, in which over 80 teams across the country’s colleges competed, events like hurdle clearing and underwater submarine fight among robots were also held. IIT-Guwahati student, Ripudaman Manchanda said, “You have been playing with cars, kits and batteries since you were a kid. Now it’s time to apply in a competition level.” The main purpose of the show was to bring out the confluence in ideas, said Convener of Techniche, Dipankar Garg.
