Robert Bosch to set up another facility in India

BANGALORE: Privately held German industrial group Robert Bosch today said it would build a second center in India. Walter Grote, managing director of Robert Bosch India Limited said the second unit would be operational this year. He said the second center would be similar to its present facility in Bangalore that saw an investment of $10.1 million from the parent company. The company, which develops embedded software for cars and commercial vehicles, also plans to ramp up its staff in India from about 2,900 now. "We plan to have an employee strength of 6,000 in the country by 2010," he said. The company inaugurated its new facility in Bangalore. Bosch India has three other facilities in Bangalore. The other facilities have served markets comprising of the U.S., Australia, Brazil, Japan and Singapore apart from others. They support central activities and development for emerging markets. The new facility will be used for both engineering and non-engineering activities. This new investment is part of the overall investment plan of the Bosch Group for India. Another new facility will be operational within 2006. "This is a significant milestone for us and we look forward to playing a greater role in providing cutting edge technology to give our customers a leadership position in their highly competitive business environments," Grote "Being in Bangalore at this point is very exciting, this is where some of the most talented engineers are," he added.
