MUMBAI: Despite on-off relationship with Pakistan, Indian petrochemical giant Reliance Industries sees Pakistan as a major market for its petroleum product. ‘Being the operators of the world's fourth largest petrochemical refinery in Jamnagar, which is merely 18 hours' sea sailing from Karachi, we are better placed to supply raw material to Pakistani industries in comparatively quick time at lesser cost, therefore, we see Pakistan as a market for our products,’ company official said. The company is already exporting 50,000 tonnes of polypropylene per annum. Besides, Pakistan has recently included linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) in the positive list for imports from India. ‘Reliance can supply the same products to Pakistani consumers at much lower prices compared to their current suppliers, company official added.
