Reliance among eight Indian firms in Forbes list

NEW DELHI: Reliance Industries, Infosys Technologies and Wipro are among the eight Indian companies that have been included in the Forbes magazine's list of best big companies in 2004. Bharat Petroleum, ITC, Bharti Tele-Ventures, Oil and Natural Gas Corp, and State Bank of India are the other domestic companies in the "world's 400 best big companies", said a Forbes statement. This is the sixth Forbes Global roster of the world's most attractive big public companies for investors, said the business magazine. In sales terms, State Bank of India, the country's largest commercial bank, topped the list of Indian companies with $12.1 billion worth of sales and $5.1 billion in market capitalization. Public sector oil retail major Bharat Petroleum Corporation followed State Bank with sales of $12 billion and market capitalisation of $2.1 billion. In terms of market capitalisation, state-run energy giant Oil and Natural Gas Corp topped the list of Indian companies with $21.3 billion.
