MUMBAI: Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. lost a patent case to launch its version of Pfizer Inc.'s blockbuster cholesterol drug Lipitor. A U.S. court on Friday upheld the validity of two of Pfizer's key patents on the cholesterol drug, blocking a generic version that Ranbaxy planned to introduce. Ranbaxy has said it will appeal against the ruling. Ranbaxy's shares dropped to $7.9 after the news became public while the benchmark BSE index was up 0.4 percent.
