Thiruvananthapuram: Printing giant RR Donnelley Monday expanded its BPO facility at the Technopark campus here by acquiring another 41,000 square foot centre. This is the second facility the Chicago-headquartered firm has at Technopark. The company claims the expansion will lead to 3,000 new jobs shortly. Founded over 140 years ago, the company provides solutions in commercial printing, direct mail, financial printing, logistics, call centres and content and database management to customers in several industries like publishing, healthcare and technology. Their new operations would provide transaction processing and financial management services to clients in Europe and the US. K.R. Jyothilal, special secretary in the state IT department, inaugurated the new centre. Kiran Shankar, managing director and head of RR Donnelley's Global BPO (Asia Operations), said Thiruvananthapuram was an attractive location for the firm's BPO services because of its access to a highly skilled talent pool with about 60,000 students graduating every year. "This new facility along with our existing offshore centres in Asia, gives us a larger network, enabling seamless delivery of work on a 24X7 basis. We are excited about our expansion in Kerala and look forward to building on our capabilities," he said. The Technopark is home to 126 companies with a workforce of 16,000.
