Mumbai: Reliance Industries (RIL), has set up Reliance Innovation Leadership Centre at Pune, the company said Monday. Inaugurating the centre, RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani said that it would drive the company's innovation agenda. "The innovation centre aims to propel RIL to the forefront of global business leadership by implementing innovation strategies in operation as well as in research and technology domains," said Ambani. Reliance Innovation Council, chaired by R.A. "The council will have some of world's leading thinkers in the fields of science, technology and innovation as its members. The council will shape and guide the various innovation initiatives of the company," it said. "Reliance also plans to set up a corporate research and technology centre (CRTC). The CRTC, with floor space of more than half a million sq. ft. in the central district of Navi Mumbai, will act as a hub of the research centres already operating at various manufacturing locations," Ambani added. "Reliance intends to create world-class physical and intellectual infrastructure in CRTC, with some of the best scientists bolstering its innovation agenda. "Reliance has already entered into path breaking tie-ups, collaborations and research agreements with world-renowned institutes and universities to derive full benefit from open innovation networks," said Ambani.
