RBI files case against SBI for depositing fake notes
Bangalore: The Reserve Bank of India filed a case against the manager of State Bank of India's PPN branch in Kanpur after 10 fake notes of 100 denomination were allegedly deposited. According to the Police Spokesperson, an FIR was registered by the Manager of RBI VP Singh at Colonelganj police station against the PPN Branch Manager of SBI for depositing 10 fake notes of 100 denomination in RBI's currency chest on September 15. A case has been filed under section 409 of IPC. This is not the first time that this type of case has been registered in the police station, the Reserve Bank of India had lodged an FIR on May 18, 2009, against the Branch manager of State Bank of India, Bhongaon branch in Mainpuri (Uttar Pradesh) for allegedly depositing fake Indian currency notes with it. At that time, six notes with the face value of 100 each were allegedly found fake by RBI on scanning and were sent to Nasik branch for testing.
