Kozhikode: RAK Airways, the national airline of the Ras al-Khaimah, a constituent emirate of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will launch its service from Kozhikode International Airport in Kerala from April 23. Kozhikode will be the first point of service of RAK Airways from India. "RAK Airways will be the first foreign airline company to operate daily service from Kozhikode," P.V. Valsaraj, the country manager for the airline, told a press conference here Thursday. Valsaraj said the airline is starting its India operation from Kozhikode as northern Kerala has the largest number of people travelling to the UAE. The airline will also consider launching operations from Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai, he added. The RAK Airways flights from Ras al-Khaimah will reach Kozhikode at 9 a.m. (India time) and will return to the emirate at 10 a.m. (India time). The airline will provide free bus transport facility for passengers arriving at Ras al-Khaimah to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Fujairah and Umm al-Quwain. RAK Airways claimed that it is charging the lowest fare among all the airline companies operating from Kozhikode. "We are providing full service to passengers but at a fare lower than even budget airlines," said Valsaraj. He said the company's fare for one-way travel from Kozhikode to Ras al-Kahimah is 5,225 inclusive of all taxes. The company said it would also deploy Malayali airhostesses for better service for passengers from the state. The RAK Airways will operate 194-seat Boeing 757 aircraft from Kozhikode.
