Tel Aviv: With an aim to provide carrier ethernet capabilities in access networks, RAD Data Communications, a global networking and internetworking product solutions provider, is all set to unveil Phase 2 of its EtherAccess strategy in the Indian region. This strategy calls for supporting the rollout of Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) and Ethernet Private Line (EPL), as well as E-Line and E-LAN services, over fiber, DSL and bonded copper circuits, with essential 802.1ag standard Ethernet OAM (Operations, Administration and Management). As part of this strategy, the company is all set to unveil three new products that are going to be added to the EtherAccess portfolio with 802.1ag Ethernet OAM standard capabilities and support for EVPL/EPL. These new products are ETX-202A, LA-210 and RICi-16. "Carrier Ethernet, which was once restricted to core networks, is reaching the access," explains Yacov Cazes, director of Ethernet Product Development at RAD Data Communications. "Today's market requirements include Carrier Ethernet capabilities in access networks, providing the same Ethernet service attributes to customers regardless of the access technologies used, which certainly was not the case even a year ago," he continues. "RAD Data Communications is uniquely positioned among the front line of vendors in responding to these new demands and in implementing them across the board in its entire Ethernet access portfolio, which is precisely what we have done in EtherAccess Phase 2." The company is likely to unveil these products in March 2008 at Convergence India. "The launch of EtherAccess Phase 2, which will take place in stages over the next several months with the introduction of new and enhanced products, is another sign of RAD’s determination to be the leading vendor in this evolving market," Cazes says. "Taking into account the rest of our Ethernet access product range, including SDH/SONET and wireless technologies, I can safely say that no other Ethernet access vendor has the portfolio depth and versatility as RAD does." Established in 1981, Tel Aviv-based privately owned RAD Data Communications is a manufacturer of access equipment for data communications and telecommunications applications. These solutions serve the data and voice access requirements of service providers, incumbent and new carriers, and enterprise networks, by reducing infrastructure investment costs while boosting competitiveness and profitability. The company's installed base exceeds 10,000,000 units and includes more than 150 carriers and operators around the world. These customers are supported by 23 RAD offices and more than 300 channel partners in 164 countries. Within the Indian sub-continent region, RAD products are being distributed by Bangalore-based MRO-Tek.
