Qualcomm selects Tibco's solution for enterprise-wide implementation

PALO ALTO: Tibco Software Inc. (Nasdaq: TIBX) Tuesday announced that Qualcomm Inc. (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leader in developing and delivering innovative digital wireless communications products and services, has selected its business integration solution for enterprise-wide integration. By using Tibco's technology, Qualcomm believes it will be able to reduce its integration expense. Qualcomm believes Tibco's solution will enable it to specify integrations and to gain access at various levels of the same messaging technology. This supports the company's multiple requirements in the development community -- queue level access, integration rules, and Business Process definitions. "We needed a vendor that could deliver a messaging infrastructure based entirely on Java Message Service (JMS). Tibco is completely standards based, which is one of the reasons we chose it," said Norm Fjeldheim, senior vice president and chief information officer for Qualcomm. "Tibco has also provided us with more security and flexibility in how we communicate with partners and employees. Its security model enables us to meet security challenges in our internal and external facing networks. "In addition, Qualcomm plans to use Tibco's solutions to support our BREW mobile application infrastructure as we extend enterprise data beyond the firewall to our mobile workers," added Fjeldheim. "Tibco will enable Qualcomm to extend its application integration beyond its firewall to its business partners and employees," said Raj Mashruwala, chief operating officer for Tibco Software Inc.
