HYDERABAD: QualCore Logic, an intellectual property (IP) and full-service, mixed-signal application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) realization company has announced the expansion of its analog design team in Hyderabad. The company plans to hire 50 more engineers to drive new core and product development efforts. With this expansion QualCore Analog engineering team in India will grow to 100 in 2005. “The market for analog IP is growing quickly because every design today includes an analog component,” said Mahendra Jain, President and CEO of QualCore “Analog design is still a highly specialized discipline and our strategy is to build the largest and most diverse portfolio of silicon-validated analog and mixed-signal IP and special I/Os. We now have more than 50 experienced analog engineers in India developing leading-edge IP that’s part of an experienced and a well-qualified team able to attack customer problems globally.” Mahendra Jain added. QualCore analog engineers have completed more than 30 analog and mixed-signal designs in 2004 and increased the QualCore Logic analog and mixed-signal IP and special I/O portfolio to more than 400 cores. Among the recent IP releases include 15 silicon-validated analog IP cores and special inputs/outputs (I/Os) for video/imaging, memory/graphics and peripheral computing interface markets. Each of this IPs was successfully validated in 0.13-micron technology in leading foundries to reduce risk and accelerate product development of system-on-chip (SoC) designs. QualCore Logic today boasts comprehensive analog, digital and mixed-signal design capabilities. It began strengthening its analog and mixed-signal silicon IP expertise in 2003 when it acquired all of the analog and mixed-signal IP and the experienced analog engineering team of LEDA Systems Inc. of Plano, Texas. The analog design team was relocated to the Sunnyvale headquarters, and QualCore Logic began hiring designers to strengthen and expand its analog design team in the U.S. and India. Over the past year, the more than 30 mixed-signal designs produced by these engineers include PCI Express and DDR 3 cores implemented in 130 and 90 nanometer process technologies. “Build up and expansion of our global team is an enduring process at QualCore. It is also a testimony to our increasing global customer recognition and reflection our quick market driven responsiveness. Since the U.S. and India team jointly work on projects, QualCore Logic regularly rotates design and layout engineers from India to the U.S. for a six-month period to grow a cohesive team and strengthen the analog expertise of the India team. QualCore currently, employs 60 analog engineers, split between a design center in Hyderabad, India, and the QualCore Logic design center in Sunnyvale, Calif.
