NEW DELHI: QNX software systems, a company dealing in real-time, micro kernel RTOS technology, and Hughes Software Systems (HSS) have announced an alliance to offer integrated solutions for the telecom space. This partnership brings together QNX's micro kernel real-time operating system technology with HSS' protocol stacks for convergent networks, together offering integrated solutions to the telecom OEM market place. This alliance is in line with the telecom market's trend towards open architectures, for which equipment manufacturers choose best-in-class components while also demanding that pre-integrated and customizable solutions be available. HSS has validated the following protocol stacks on the QNX Neutrino real-time operating system version 6.2.1: SCCP (Wireline), ALCAP, MTP3-B & SAAL-NNI (Wireless and Broadband), SCTP and M3UA (Voice over Packet). HSS protocol stacks communicate with the underlying operating system via a common abstraction library; the validation of this library ensures that effectively all HSS protocol stacks can be delivered on QNX Neutrino. By collaborating with HSS, QNX Software Systems would be able to provide its existing and future customers with best-in-class protocol products and specialized outsourcing services on QNX platforms. "HSS's comprehensive suite of protocol stacks on the QNX Neutrino real-time operating system offers network equipment providers a powerful way to develop new high performance products across diverse platforms for a wide range of telecom markets," said Anita Gupta, Assistant Vice President Business Development, Mobile Networks Group, Hughes Software Systems. "The availability of HSS protocol stacks on QNX Neutrino will significantly reduce development cost and time-to-market for these OEMs."
