Prasanjeet Khuntia to head Tellabs India Region

Bangalore: Tellabs, a provider of telecommunication network has appointed Prasanjeet Khuntia as Country Manager of India. In this role, Prasanjeet will oversee Tellabs? strategy and growth in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. ?India has low broadband penetration rates, and service providers need to expand their networks as the demand for higher-speed services kicks in. Khuntia?s intimate knowledge of Tellabs solutions and excellent understanding of service providers? needs will enable our customers to meet user needs,? said Sanjay Patel, Vice President and General Manager of Asia Pacific sales. Khuntia was with Tellabs from 1998 to 2004 as a sales manager in charge of key accounts. Prior to his current position, he was the business development manager for service providers in Cisco. ?India has the fastest growing wireless market in the world with more than 6 million subscribers added every month. To keep up with this demand, service providers must quickly make the leap to next-generation networks,? said Khuntia. ?With Tellabs solutions, our customers can deliver new revenue-generating services in a cost-effective manner. Khuntia holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Regional Engineering College in Rourkela, India, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta.
