MUMBAI: To cater to the growing demand of its products in the country, Polycom, provider of video, voice, data and web conferencing, has opened its office in New Delhi and is expecting a huge growth in the coming days. Polycom Asia Pacific MD, Jean-Francois Poulain said, "the growing demand for our products in India, propelled us to open office in India. Now the next step will be to restructure all the processes." According to him, the company's next move would be to scale up its base in the country. It is planning to add more resellers in the country so that, the demand of the products can be easily met. The company currently has Siemens, Tata-Avaya, Enkay Telecom, Neuton and Godrej as its distributors. Polycom, that currently has around 60 percent of market share in all the web conferencing solution it provides, is aiming to take up the tally to 90 percent. Since India contributes only two percent in the overall revenues of Polycom, the company is looking at 100 percent growth in India. The company is targeting verticals like SME's, government, telemedicine and education. So far video conferencing facility has been highly successful in telemedicine, but now state governments, the judiciary and distance education can also benefit from its use. The company has decided to go with the present model to sell its products, i.e. through its network of resellers, but in future it is looking to go the retail way also. Though most of the servicing part has been taken care by its resellers only, it is also planning to set up its own servicing centers. Currently, all the Polycom products have been imported from the other countries but if the demand increases, the company might look at setting up its own manufacturing facility in India.
