BANGALORE: PeopleSoft India Country Manager Thiru Vengadam has put in his papers; days after the hostile takeover of the company by Oracle Corp. "I think Oracle does not want us to serve them anymore and because of the quiet period, I am not able to comment any further on the integration process and its consequences," he said after submitting his resignation. This is just the beginning and thousands of PeopleSoft employees are expected to receive marching orders by new bosses Oracle. Vengadam is not the only chief of a country operation to walk out, his Australian colleague David Webster, PeopleSoft Australia managing director and Murray Creighton, regional chief, PeopleSoft have also left the company. After a hostile takeover last week, Oracle had announced last week its intention to lay off about 5000 employees. However it is still unclear how many in the company have left. Speaking about his future plan, Thiru said, "I have about 12 years experience in enterprise software applications with SAP and PeopleSoft. I might probably join another enterprise software company." This leaves the merged entity in a search for a new head of operations. While PeopleSoft's directly employees about 100 people in India, the company has outsourced development work to others. Oracle Corporation is holding a conference call late tonight with customers and partners of both companies, explaining the integration process and details of the merged entity. As Country Manager and Director of Sales, Thiru was responsible for developing the overall strategy, plans and execution of PeopleSoft's business in India. He has over 12 years of IT industry experience in business development, consulting and program and business management. Thiru has been instrumental in establishing PeopleSoft's presence in the country. During the last 3 years, Thiru worked with and developed strategic partner relationships with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Tata Consultancy Services, Satyam Computer Services and Hexaware. Under Thiru's leadership PeopleSoft India has been a consistent performer and has acquired in a short span of time, over 50 customers in the country. Prior to PeopleSoft, Thiru was with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and was a key player in establishing their PeopleSoft practice. Thiru was earlier with SAP, for a period of 4 years, serving them as the Country Sales Manager. Thiru is credited with establishing the strong presence of SAP in India.
