Parveen Chopra Hosted a Reception in Honour of Skelos
Bangalore: Dr. Parveen Chopra, a former Commissioner of Planning & Chairman of the Human Rights Commission recently co-hosted a ceremony at the Carlton Restaurant honoring the work of Judge Peter Skelos who is currently serving in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court and running for election this year.
Dr. Parveen Chopra, an Indian American has been honored with the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, and is the First Indian American to be honored by the New York State Bar Association with the Haywood Burns Memorial Award as well as the Liberty Bell Award for the promotion of Justice and rights.
He also served as Commissioner of Planning in Nassau County for six years improving the quality of life of 1.3 million Americans.
Dr. Chopra said Judge Skelos like most Indian Americans is pro- family, pro- business and believes in all the Indian American values we hold near and dear to our heart. Judge Skelos – protects those values for us on the bench, and it is our honor to recognize his achievements.
Parveen Chopra was born in India and has been a resident of USA for the last forty years. Dr. Chopra has been a life time educator and Professor in Graduate Schools of Business and holds a PhD, MBA, LLB and 4 other Masters degrees.
Skelos started as a Judge on the New York State District Court from 1995 to 1998. In 1999, he became a State Supreme Court Justice of the 10th Judicial District and from 2003 to 2004; he served on the Appellate Term of the Supreme Court.
