MUMBAI: Under plans to strengthen its Indian operations, consumer electronics major Panasonic India Pvt Ltd has appointed Tech Pacific (India) Ltd as distributor for its GSM handsets in India, even as the company is planning to introduce a new GSM model every month. "The appointment is in line with our intention to garner a 10 per cent marketshare in the country's GSM market from the present two-four per cent," Panasonic Mobile Communications Ltd, Japan, managing director Bunroku Morioko said in Mumbai on Sunday. Tech Pacific has a network of around 6,000 retail outlets in the country and a distribution network across all metros, major cities and towns, he said. Panasonic is strengthening its operations in the GSM market and is planning to launch a new model "nearly every month", he said, adding, the company would target high-, middle- and entry-level segments in the country. The company had launched an entry-level handset - A100 - in the country last week.
