Pakistani made app tops the best selling BlackBerry apps

Islamabad: An application made by Five Rivers, a Pakistani technology firm, has grabbed the top spot in the best selling BlackBerry paid-for apps. The photo editing software called the Photo Editor Suite has been designed by Saad Hussain. The app is currently ruling the roost across all categories on the AppWorld Store of BlackBerry. The software provides simple tools to edit the pictures. Tools like crop, rotate, brightness and contrast adjustment, recolor and resize are put into use for editing. Mahe Zehra Husain, Head of Operations and Product Management, Five Rivers said, "This is extremely good news for us and especially for the Pakistani IT industry. This is just the beginning of what we can do with our mobile applications and you'll see a lot more from our team in the near future." The company, started in 2003, has branched out with a subsidiary called Pepper.pk and has to its credit more than 100 applications for BlackBerry,iPhone and other smartphones. As per State Bank of Pakistan reports, the exports made in the software and IT-enabled service areas has brought in about $208 million to country in the year 2009-10. The Pakistani IT industry is today worth about $2.8 billion.
