CHENNAI: Hindustan Motors plans to start assembling Pajero vehicles in Chennai, capital of Tamil Nadu. Chennai is the third city after New Delhi and Mumbai where the vehicle has been launched, costing Rs 3.4 million. The company said it plans to sell 2,500 cars this year. Hindustan Motors managing director A. Sankaranarayan said at a launch function here Tuesday night that the units were now being imported from Japan. "Our Chennai facility will soon be assembling this popular sports utility vehicle." India last year liberalized import of completely built vehicles as part of its World Trade Organization obligation.
