Otellini takes charge as Intel CEO

NEW YORK:Intel Corp. shareholders have approved Paul Otellini as chief executive officer of the world's biggest chipmaker, replacing Craig Barrett, who has held the post since 1998. Otellini, 54, had been president and chief operating officer. Barrett, 65, will succeed Andrew Grove as chairman of the board of the Santa Clara, California, technology giant. Grove will serve as a senior advisor to the board and senior management. Otellini, who has been at Intel since 1974, is the fifth CEO of the semiconductor company, and is the first coming from a marketing rather than a technical background
