Mumbai: Mumbai headquartered telecom and IT major, Spanco Telesystems and Solutions has secured the Orissa State Datacenter (SDC) project, valued at 30 crore. The deal is the first SDC order in the country and is the part of the core infrastructure under the National eGovernance Program instituted by the Department of Information Technology. Under the contract, the datacentres will consolidate services, applications and infrastructure to deliver government-to-government, consumer and business services. The project will be implemented over a period of four months. Although Spanco didn't disclose the financial details of the contract, it has already been mentioned in reports that expenditure on the nation-wide implementation of such projects totals around 1,110 crore. "It is a matter of great pride for Spanco to have the first SDC order in the country," said Spanco Chairman Kapil Puri. "This is important for Spanco as we now have presence across the entire service delivery infrastructure of the National eGovernance Plan. We have a target for about five to seven SDC projects in the country." These services can be offered through common delivery platforms supported by the state wide area network (SWAN) and common service centre (CSC). Spanco has already won a contract to implement SWAN in Maharashtra, while TCS recently got a similar contract from the Andhra Pradesh government.
