BHUBHANESHWAR: Government of Orissa and Panchayati Raj Department have decided to build an integrated IT infrastructure to connect 314 Blocks and 30 District Rural Development Agencies in the State. This is the first phase of a project with a vision to cover all the 6234 Grama Panchayats in the State over time. The Department have chosen Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server to build this integrated infrastructure with the help of end-user Panchayat Accounting and Monitoring Software (Financial Accounting) and Payroll applications built by Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar and Orissa Computer Application Centre of the IT Directorate of Government of Orissa respectively. The Panchayati Raj Department of Orissa hopes to achieve better utilization of funds, greater financial transparency and accountability and better management of social welfare schemes through the integrated IT infrastructure. Oracle has already helped in the implementation of over 2000 e-Governance projects in the world. We are already involved in IT projects of over 50 Government entities in India. We are bringing all our global and Indian experience to help the Department of Panchayati Raj in Orissa build the three-tier, web-based IT infrastructure with the objective of increasing citizens’ return on taxes. Oracle’s e-Government projects span revenue generation, work-flow/operation efficiency enhancement and citizen services delivery by government departments, public health organisations, education and research organisations, public utilities--electricity generation, distribution and water supply departments, municipal corporations and panchayats.
