Optical tech firm Photuris acquired by Mahi Networks

NEW JERSEY: Ashish Vengsarkar co-founded Photuris Inc., a Piscataway, NJ-based supplier of advanced optical services equipment, has been acquired by Mahi Networks. Financial details were not disclosed.
Photuris had raised more than $105 million from Artiman Ventures, Columbia Capital, Greylock, and other private investors.
Ashish Vengsarkar, Photuris' VP-Product Marketing, will now become Mahi's VP-Global Market Development. Prior to founding Photuris, Vengsarkar worked at Bell Labs/Lucent Technologies. He received his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT-Bombay, MS and Ph.D. Degrees in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech and an executive MBA from the Wharton School.
