Opsware names Sunny Gupta EVP of Products

Sunnyvale, Calif: Opsware , a provider of Data Center Automation software, today named former iConclude CEO Sunny Gupta to the position of Executive Vice President, Products. Gupta joined the company in April of this year when Opsware acquired Bellevue Washington-based iConclude Co., the privately held technology leader in IT process automation and run book automation software. As EVP of Products, Gupta will lead all product efforts at the company and report to president and CEO Ben Horowitz. "Sunny Gupta is a flat out superstar in this industry," said Horowitz. "He built by far the best company in the Run Book Automation sector and we are thrilled to have him here building the best company in the Data Center Automation market." Sunny Gupta's career spans more than 16 years in enterprise software, with roles including general management, strategic marketing, product management and business development at large companies as well as successful start-ups. Most recently, Gupta was the CEO of iConclude, where he pioneered the IT runbook automation market and developed the software that was to become the Opsware Process Automation System. Before joining iConclude, he ran the Java/. NET performance management product group for Mercury Interactive; served as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Performant (acquired by Mercury); and served as General Manager of Business Development at Rational Software (acquired by IBM). Gupta also co-founded Vigor Technology before its acquisition by Rational and held product management and consulting roles at Easel Corporation and IBM. Sunny earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of South Carolina.
