Only four percent of Indian females use mobile web
Bangalore: There is a remarkable discrepancy in the male or female split when it comes to mobile data usage. Only four percent of Indian users are female, which is very low compared to the worldwide average of 23 percent. This information was revealed by the latest State of the mobile Web report conducted by Opera. South Africa has been recorded with the highest percentage of female users. From the Opera's survey, one can easily find out that, the gender gap in Indian mobile web usage is the widest in the world. The reasons figured out for this phenomenon is the lower literacy rates among females in India or the higher number of males employed in the IT sector of India, which gives them easy access to mobile gadgets or may be the cultural phenomenon.
