BANGALORE: OATSystems, Inc., the recognized RFID framework leader, announced its formal entry into India with the official launch of its office in Bangalore today. OATSystems makes the software that makes RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) possible. The company has been setting the standard in RFID for over half a decade and is responsible for several industry firsts. Its client base includes 45 of the Global 500 — including some of the worlds leading companies such as Gillette, HP and Tesco. The 12,000 sq. foot state-of-the-art facility is located in the central business district of Bangalore and will serve as a key product development and R&D hub for the Boston-based company. It is also the base for OATSystems’ professional services arm serving customers in Asia, Europe and North America. The OATSystems office in Bangalore will employ a variety of skilled IT professionals to enable software development, global service delivery and supporting OATSystems’ suite of RFID software products. On hand for the inauguration was Dr. Sanjay Sarma, CTO, OATSystems and widely heralded as “The Father of RFID”, “RFID is currently one of the largest business-transforming technologies in the world right now. Businesses and governments around the globe are demanding world-class systems to make RFID work for them. The stakes are high, but we’re confident that India has the talent pool to compete and excel in the area of cutting edge software product development.” Sarma is just one of several members of the OAT team who are of Indian descent and who studied at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT’s). OAT’s Bangalore operations will be exclusively responsible for the development of the company’s industry leading OATFoundation Suite, which provides organizations with all the software needed to take RFID out of box and into production. It is expected that this facility will further play a vital role in developing software applications that sit on the OATFoundation Suite. These applications will allow customers worldwide to fully harness the power of RFID-generated data into business insight. “We are very excited that our product development will now be carried out of Bangalore. As an Indian and ex-IITian, I take great pride that our flagship product will now be completely developed in India. Our Bangalore team will be focusing on cutting-edge work developing high value applications that fully harness the power of RFID,” concluded Prasad Putta, CEO, OATSystems, Inc.
