New York: Palantiri Systems announced the availability of free public access to its Collaborative Device Community Software Platform, the first remote device connectivity platform that combines the power of social networking with always-on remote device connectivity. Palantiri's solution enables 'intelligent devices' – including equipment used in manufacturing, medical, and other businesses – to participate directly in private online social networking-style communities. Subscribers will be able to experience the benefits of real-time interaction with live devices, and be able to collaborate with industry experts via Web 2.0 tools such as blogs and discussion forums. In addition to the new public community, the company announced the immediate availability of Version 2.0 of its Enterprise-scale Collaborative Device Community Software Platform, available with a monthly Software-as-a-Service subscription fee. "Building a real-time Enterprise Collaboration strategy that includes devices and business applications is a multi-step process and we always encourage our customers to take an iterative approach. We believe having an accessible demonstration vehicle will enable our customers to become acquainted with the collaborative model, discover the benefits of the community environment first hand, and appropriately align technology adoption with business objectives, all without making any upfront investment," said John Canosa, President and CEO of Palantiri Systems. Palantiri Systems also enhanced the capabilities with Version 2.0 of its Enterprise offering by expanding features such as secure, real-time firewall transparent Enterprise Application Integration using XMPP, Virtual Device File Systems, greatly enhanced scripting and API that makes interacting with other members of the community a breeze, and a comprehensive widget gallery that includes graphing and charting widgets. Furthermore, the enhanced widget-based user interface allows subscribing companies to easily create other rich visualizations and enterprise mashups using critical community information as well as external data sources. "The benefit of a social network in a business environment is to build a body of community knowledge. By enabling devices to participate in real-time, the device can contribute a tremendous amount of knowledge directly to the community. Our customers can take advantage of community style social networking, real-time device interaction, and integration with enterprise applications such as SAP and PowerHelp to provide context-based knowledge sharing in order to improve their operating efficiencies, provide new value added services, and truly engage their customer base," added Canosa.
