Now You Can Tweet In Hindi
Bangalore: Breaking the language barrier, the San Francisco based site Twitter unveiled a Hindi interface for its service. Now the users can choose to read instructions on Twitter in the national language. The launch of the Hindi interface comes exactly a month after the site requested volunteers to help in translation. A similar initiative is also being undertaken by the micro- blogging site's translation center to translate its pages into sixteen different languages, including simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, Malay and Filipino. To activate Hindi, users can visit the Twitter Settings page and change the language to Hindi. This will convert interface instructions like "How are You?" into "Tum kaise ho?' in the Devanagari script. The move has come after a 2010 study revealed that only 50 percent tweets were in English. The company with over 100 million active users in the world stated that it would soon support different languages.
