Now, Chidambaram to hardsell Brand India in NY

WASHINGTON: After the Prime Minister, it's the turn of Finance Minister P Chidambaram to hardsell Brand India in New York. Barely a fortnight after Dr Manmohan Singh’s powwow with top American CEOs at the New York Stock Exchange, Chidambaram will on Wednesday showcase an event on investment opportunities in India, reports Hindustan Times. At hand for what has been billed as a highly-focused event spread over two days will be a galaxy of Indian business leaders, bankers and bureaucrats from key infrastructure ministries to make power point presentations. Communications and Information Technology Minister Dayanidhi Maran will also be there, focusing on the quantum leap in India’s telecom sector. Tata Group chief Ratan Tata, Reliance Group chief Mukesh Ambani, secretaries in the ministries of power, civil aviation, shipping, petroleum and natural gas will all be there. So will be the chairmen of the State Bank of India, Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank, HDFC and IDBI, and SEBI chief GN Bajpai. The audience will consist of US investors, Wall Street’s portfolio managers, analysts from hedge funds and money management firms, besides senior representatives of US corporate and public pension funs, endowments and foundations. Executives from major MNCs with extensive business ties in India will also be present.
