Now Big Pictures forays into Gujarati films

Ahmedabad: Big Pictures of Reliance Big Entertainment forays into Gujarati films with director Govindbhai Patel's "Dholi Taaro Dhol Waage", which is set for Diwali release. Big Pictures will promote and distribute the film in the state as well as in the global market. "I feel fortunate to be associated with Big Pictures as my film is being promoted and released in a deserving manner," said Patel. The announcement was made Monday at the Adlabs hall here. "Dholi Taaro Dhol Waage" would be released across over 40 centres in Gujarat Oct 28, making it a special Diwali release. "Cinema speaks a global language. A good film holds no language barrier. We are producing several regional films in several languages. Gujarat always has been close to the heart for the ADAG (Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group) group and we are proud to bring to audiences 'Dholi Taaro Dhol Waage" coupled with exceptional performances, great music & heart wrenching story," said Mahesh Ranganathan, COO, Big Pictures. "In the second phase, the film will be released in the overseas market along with second run centres in Gujarat," he said. Ranganathan added that Big Pictures plans to release at least three Gujarati films every year. Naresh Kanodia and Roma Manek, known for their on screen chemistry, are playing main leads in the film. Also, for the first time Kanodia will share the screen space with Upendra Trivedi in "Dholi Taaro Dhol Waage". "I have always loved sharing the screen with Roma. As 'Dholi Taaro Dhol Waage' brings us back on screen after five years, I am looking forward to a great response from the audiences," said Kanodia. Commenting on the film's theme, Kanodia said, "'Dholi Taaro Dhol Waage' is a saga of passion for dhol and love. Raju, a dhol player from the lower strata of the society meets Mansi, who is the daughter of a prosperous Thakur. Raju has inherited the art of playing dhol from his father. "With his passion for the dhol, Raju wins the heart of his lady love. However, they face opposition on grounds of tradition and social status. It is the story of a journey to overcome all odds in pursuit of love and togetherness." Big Pictures of Reliance BIG Entertainment is investing over $1 billion in its entertainment business and will commence roll-out of its first set of Indian movies later this year.
