As a part of its Rs 200 crore investment plans in India, the world's largest IT education company New Horizons is planing to tap the long term career oriented IT training market in the country.

NEW DELHI: In this direction, the company would be setting up 60 centres in the country in the first phase, which would be later extended to 250 centres. New Horizons is expected to start the retail training business in June this year. “We want to tap the growing retail training market. We are looking at a franchise cum our own centre mix to tap the market,” said Ajay Sharma, president, New Horizons India Limited. With this move, the company expects that about 50 per cent of its revenues to come from the retail training market, while the rest would be from corporate training sector. The company is currently working on the fee structure, course structure and content of the long term career training programmes. The company is likely to offer training in the areas of Linux, .NET and security amongst others. New Horizons, which clocked revenues to the tune of $ 500 million globally in the last fiscal, has trained about 5000 professionals in about 100 corporates since it started its operations in India in December this year. New Horizons made its entry in India by forming a joint venture with the Vivek Bharatram controlled Sriram Global Technology Education Company. At the time of setting up its operations, the company had said that it was targeting revenue to the tune of Rs 500 crore in three years. The company at the time of setting up the operations said that it wanted to capture a market share of 20 per cent by the end of three years. The company would be utilising the expertise of both partners in expanding operation in the country. "New Horizons has expertise in generating education content and modules for high end infotech training and the Indian partner has the knowledge of the local market. We are confident to gain a commanding market share soon," Sharma said. New Horizons has been closely working in alliance with Oracle, RedHat, Microsoft, Adobe, Sun and Prosoft. These alliances are international in nature and extend to the students here.
