Hyderabad: Neoretina Eye Institute, a dedicated retinal eye care hospital in Hyderabad, Thursday introduced advanced minimally invasive surgical services.

The services will benefit patients suffering from eye disorders like diabetes-related retina diseases, retinal detachment, vitreous haemorrhage and macular holes.

Established in 2010, the facility launched a new operation theatre with Carl Zeiss Lumera Opmi (surgical microscope) eye view system and Constellation, the world's latest ophthalmic microsurgical instrument for retinal surgery.

The hospital's director and chief retinal surgeon Raja Rami Reddy said high incidence of diabetes is leading to severe retina-related disorders which can even lead to blindness.

According to a study, an estimated 16.6 percent of Hyderabad's population is diabetic, making the city the diabetic capital of India.
