MUMBAI: In a move that’s expected to bring cheers to outsourcers, Nasscom will train 3000 policemen in five cities to tackle data and security thefts at IT and BPO companies across the country. This is aimed at educating and training front level policemen in detection and investigation of cyber crimes. “Cyber crimes are going up globally and India is no exception,” Nasscom Vice-President Sunil Mehta said adding that awareness about cyber crimes among police is poor. Bangalore and Mumbai police already have a specialized cyber crimes cell and have been sensitized to deal with any such issues. Nasscom has also set up cyber security training centers in Mumbai and will soon start similar centers in Pune, Gurgaon besides Chennai and Hyderabad. “As large number of companies do business with India, we want them to rest assured that there will not be any security concerns,” he said.
