Nasscom awards corporates for gender inclusivity

Bangalore: Nasscom held the Nasscom – IT Women Leadership Summit 2007 in Bangalore on 12-13 Dec 2007. Nasscom took the event as an opportunity to give away the first ever corporate awards for gender inclusivity under various categories. The awards honored companies in the IT-ITES industry, which have implemented outstanding practices that promote gender empowerment and women leadership development. Nasscom saw 22 organizations participate in the awards and the panel of eminent people selected the winners. The jury comprised of Kiran Karnik, President Nasscom; Hema Ravichandran, HR Consultant; Aroon Purie, Editor-in-Chief, India Today; Vinita Bali, MD, Britannia; Narayana Murthy, Chairman & Chief Mentor, Infosys and Rekha M Menon, Lead Executive, and Accenture Geographic Services in India. The Nasscom -India Today Woman Corporate Award for Excellence in Gender Inclusivity for IT Services & Product Companies was given to Infosys Technologies. While the award in the ITES& BPO sector was bagged by IBM Daksh Business Process Services, IBM India won the award for the ‘Most Innovative Project in Gender Inclusivity’. Equinox Global Services, the BPO arm of iFlex solutions, bagged the award for gender inclusivity in the ‘Best emerging company’ category. The award winning organizations later gave a presentation about the various programs conducted by them with regard to ‘gender inclusivity’.
