Narayana Murthy criticised over legalising bribe comment

NEW DELHI: Global anti-graft body Transparency International's India chapter slammed Infosys Chairman Narayana Murthy for supporting the idea of legalising bribe giving. "The recent media report of Infosys Chairman Narayana Murthy supporting Chief of Economic Adviser Kaushik Basu's idea of legalising bribery in India has been criticised by the India Chapter of Transparency International," Transparency International said in a statement. Earlier this week, Murthy had said that he fully supported Basu's idea of making payment of bribes legal, saying this would help members of the public blow the whistle on corrupt officials.
