NIIT awarded by Chinese weekly

NEW DELHI: NIIT has been awarded the best training institute by China Information World. Having set up 100 education centres in China since 1998, NIIT has also been presented awards for the Best Placement and Best courseware by the Chinese Weekly. "The CIW award acknowledges NIIT's instructional R&D capability as also our deep understanding of the tough Chinese market. This strengthens NIIT's resolve to scale up our IT manpower development efforts in China,'' says NIIT CEO, Vijay Thadani. NIIT also claims to be the first Indian company to get wholly owned foreign entity (WOFE) status, allowing it to set up professional educational centres in China and bosts of placements for its GNIIT students in organisation like Fujitsu, IBM, China Telecom and Shanghai Stock Exchange. China's software sector is expected to need 210,000 professionals by 2005 to its existing pool of 5,90,000 professionals ."The next five years offer exciting prospects for the IT industry in China. We have developed firm linkages with the academic system and its endevour is to become a single window for all IT training needs,'' says NIIT China general manager, Prakash Menon.
