NIIT Tech, SAP pact for government services

MUMBAI: NIIT Technologies, a part of computer education provider NIIT Ltd today announced it has tied up with SAP to implement software projects for government and public sector units. The NIIT-SAP combination hopes to get a larger percentage of the growing investments by the Indian government and public sector undertakings, said Arvind Thakur, CEO of NIIT Technologies. "India is the fastest growing IT market in Asia Pacific. Our track record in enabling government bodies to be more effective and efficient will enable both organizations ride this wave of growth," Thakur said. "Governments in India are increasingly taking advantage of technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness in their operations," said Alan Sedghi, president and managing director (Indian subcontinent) of SAP. "This is a sector of major focus for us as we continuously build on our strong momentum here. Partnerships are key and we are delighted to work together with NIIT to enable governments to leverage our market leading solutions."
