NASSCOM to set up office in Kolkata

Kolkata: The National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), the apex body for India's IT industry, will soon open an office in Kolkata. NASSCOM announced this on the sidelines of Infocomm 2006, the information, communications and technology (ICT) exposition here, inaugurated Wednesday by President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, said a release. "West Bengal is well positioned with regard to the critical needs of the IT industry, such as an abundant and high-quality talent pool to draw upon, good telecom and physical infrastructure, a favourable policy framework, and competitive operational costs," said Kiran Karnik, president, NASSCOM. "The government's recent focus on revitalising economic activity in the state has sent a strong positive signal to the industry," he added.
