New Delhi: NASSCOM Foundation (NF), a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of NASSCOM, has called for applications for the NASSCOM Foundation Social Innovation Honours 2010 (NSIH 2010). NF will honour innovations based on the use and implementation of technology to bring out social change. The award is to recognize excellence and to encourage innovation in social development initiatives. The applications are invited under five categories, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) innovation for the initiatives taken by non-profit organizations, ICT innovations by for-profit organizations which include socially relevant products and services and CSR initiatives by organizations, ICT led innovation by government, innovations by multi stakeholder partnerships and programs or projects on the environment. "The NSIH is among India's pioneering honours focused on innovations in social development. The honours serve as an encouragement to Non Government Organizations (NGOs), non-profits and government departments who can bring about the much needed social change. Corporates who recognize the need for developmental efforts in India and create products and services to address those issues are also encouraged to participate," said Rufina Fernandes, CEO, NASSCOM Foundation. "Our aim is to inspire a new generation of socially conscious leaders who take up relevant social challenges be it in education or health, livelihood or environment and address them effectively through innovative ideas," said Jaithirth Rao, Chairman, NASSCOM Foundation. The NSIH received about hundred nominations last year. The categories have been expanded this year to include multi stakeholder partnerships and initiatives impacting the environment, as NF intends to encourage efforts where social change can be accelerated and scaled up nationally. Genpact supports NSIH as presenting sponsor, Mphasis as the platinum sponsor and CNBC TV-18 as media partner to reach out to a larger and wider audience. The award will be adjudged by a jury comprising of N.R. Narayana Murthy, Rama Bijapurkar, Jaithirth Rao and Ganesh Ayyar. The winners will be announced at NASSCOM's India Leadership Summit in February 2010. The last date for sending in the completed application is October 27, 2009. The form is available on NF's website.
