Mukesh Ambani named for US leadership award

WASHINGTON: Reliance Group's chairman Mukesh D. Ambani has been named for the Asia Society Leadership Award Medal this year. According to a press release, Ambani was selected as the Reliance Group is one of India's largest business houses with its activities spanning exploration and production of oil, gas, refining and marketing, petrochemicals, textiles, financial services and insurance, power, telecom and infocom initiatives. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, also the co-chair of the Senate India Caucus, will be the keynote speaker at the Asia Society's annual dinner here May 20 when the award will be conferred. Clinton has long been a friend of India and was the only First Lady besides Jacqueline Kennedy to have visited India. Previous recipients of The Asia Society Leadership Award Medal include Hong Kong Chief Secretary for Administration Anson Chan, US Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta and Lockheed Martin Chairman and CEO Vance D. Coffman.
