Motorola, Tata Teleservices join to offer CDMA handsets

New Delhi: Global mobile handset major Motorola Inc. entered into an agreement with Tata Teleservices Ltd, to market Motorola's CDMA mobile phones in India. Motorola will market its three models - Motofone F3C, Radiomoto W210 and Radiomoto W170 - through Tata Indicom's distribution network of more than 60,000 retail outlets. "These models being in the price range 1,600-3,000 will focus at more lower segments, thereby targeting a broader customer base," said Malcolm Dawe, Vice President and General Manger, Motorola India (mobile devices). Darryl Green, CEO, Tata Teleservices, said, "These are targeted at customers who are not bothered of having a radio or camera, these are for those kind of customers who want a value proposition based on quality." Tata Teleservices, which is a part of $22 billion Tata Group, has invested $7.5 billion in its telecom business.
