California: Majority of American executives prefers to take measures like granting promotions and raising salaries of the top performing employees to retain them, reveals a study. The survey was launched by Accountemps, an online job service provider, to find out the tools that executives prefers for the retention of employees. Most executives (76 percent) are willing to take further steps to avoid losing out their best employees. More than 1,400 Chief Financial Officers (CFO) from a stratified random sample of U.S. companies with 20 or more employees were the respondents. Half of CFOs interviewed said they plan to promote top performers once the economy recovers, and 48 percent plan to give raises. 41 percent of the respondents are in favour of increasing investment in professional development and 32 per cent consider enhancing benefits. In addition, 26 per cent employers are planning to reinstate or increase bonuses. Only about a fourth of the CFOs surveyed are not planning to take any steps to retain their best employees. "Indispensable workers who helped businesses stay afloat during tough times will have new career options as conditions improve," said Max Messmer, chairman of Accountemps.
