Basic education in schools shd have more practical ways of learning. "Yes Sir Corret Sir" kinda Student will survive the college but his quality will not be good as he wont think abt it. Those students who questions the staff are using their brains bu given bad names in schools/college. Teachers shd encourage students to ask questions and try to answer them. If a student is interested in new ways we shd support them. Teacher's quality are getting bad. so students go down. Some students has a fighting chance so they suceed like reddy... Self thinking had reduced a lot nowadays as they started chasing the mark... India's system was best and not getting degraded will remain same if we just concentrate only on marks.

20: Sam, I think after all these comment you knew that our education is the best. I am in London and looking at the education system in most of the universities excepting big one like cambridge. Most of the uni has lectures only for 2days a week and in between so many holidays. Students are survive on self study and on assignments. After looking to these I personally feel that the education in India is best. Apart from Uni school's education is also best.

42:Yes i agree with your point, but not 100%. See the teaching method has changed. As a student i have found the difficulties of studying the subjects. The difficulties which were faced by me is while i am trying to memorize the things. Most of the colleges are compelling the students to study like a school children. College is the place where the technical knowledge has to come out. No one(Staffs) is ready to bring the students up to the world. They are just trying to hold them from doing something different. The innovation which only comes from the students only if they got the freedom to proceed into their own way. Most of the colleges are seeking students to earn money. Only 2 or 3 out of 100 are doing something good for their students. So a little change in the way that the students are being taught will give a better environment for the students to learn.

70: Absolutely true. I am a faculty member at a university in US.are excellent professors lament about the very poor working condition, extremely poor student preparedness, and almost no checks on corruption. People get things done with pleasing their supervisors - VC's.

This is the way it was there when I was a student and things have not changed. Of course there are some excellent educational institutions that are keeping the country functioning. Without those schools, we will be like Pakistan or Egypt.

100: A personal point of view expressed here. I believe that static or declining quality of education is due to some very peculiar supply and demand economics in India. There are too many Indians who dream of good jobs through education, and there is correspondingly an oversupply of graduates applying for jobs which are limited on the demand side. Too many students applying for degrees hardly serve as a motivation for universities to provide quality education. Result: Oversupply of graduates with poor quality education. How will the creation of more universities help? Perhaps a solution might be creation of not traditional "educational" institutions, but creation of institutions that equip its graduates with skills to enter the market where the real demand for those skills are (ie. very focused vocational training such as high quality building/construction industry skills). Such vocational training may not impart a degree that looks good in the higher education sector, but are highly desirable in the industry sector.
