Bangalore: Most of the techies are losing their focus in their career. Now they are rather interested in a career shift. "In a recent survey conducted by CareerNet Consulting done on 300 senior engineers from IT sector, the outcome is quite unpredictable," says Rishi Das, Co-founder & CEO, CareerNet Consulting. The survey reveals that almost 67 percent of the respondents are looking for a career change. The survey was based on different questions set studying the current market trend. Post IT, they want to get into different fields like Telecom (15 percent), PE/VC (22 percent), education (19 percent), retail (12 percent) and media (13 percent). The survey points out that, the most preferred role by the respondents in the IT field is that of global or regional that have functional business or product owner for MNC. People with around 10 years of experience have gone through three or four product development phase. "They are interested in taking charge as country manager of cross-boarded operations," says Das. The role in run delivery center operations for MNCs in India is the least preferred role by these techies. According to Das, there are a few challenges the management could face in terms of operating business. The major challenge pointed out by the senior engineers is updating of global markets, customers and business domains. There is dearth of innovation and building of V1.0 products as well. The lack of innovation could be a result of people not ready to get out of their 'comfort zone', Das states.
