NEW DELHI: Moser Baer has earmarked a whopping Rs 10 crore for marketing and promotional activities in the next 18 months for its just-launched branded range of CD-R, CD-RWs and mini CDs for the Indian market. The company has already undertaken extensive market mapping in association with WPP Quadrant and events, promotions, advertisements, including advertisements on the net, roadshows, and direct marketing campaigns . Ratul Puri, Executive Director, Moser Baer informed that the company is confident of notching up a sale of 700 million units by 2005, taking its market share to 50 percent in the domestic market. The launch is pre-emptive to the company’s entry in the read / write DVD market of the country. "We want to introduce the channel to our fast moving range of products first, then once they are familiar with the pull, we will push the range of DVD products," Puri said. "The DVD market in the country is currently nascent, especially as the cost of consumables and the player is much on the higher side. But we know that gradually usage will increase volumes, introduce better technology and bring down prices. In any IT product this vicious circle is just a part of its life-cycle," he added.
