Bangalore: It may be a coincidence that a TRAI report said India is set to be the second largest mobile phone market in the world, and hours after, Mobily, the telecommunication arm of Soudi Arabia based Etihad Etisalath, formally inaugurated the office of its subsidiary -Mobily InfoTech India- in Bangalore. But Mobily CEO and Managing Director Khalid Alkaf says the company preferred India after a thorough research and a clear understanding on this country's telecommunication market, which, according to him, moves on an upward curve. Mobily InfoTech India, which is established under the STPI scheme last year, will provide IT solutions and consulting services to the parent company in the area of billing, mediation, customer relationship, management, revenue assurance and service provisioning. The investment in this subsidiary has already exceeded Rs 20 crores and the company is also planning to make a 70 crore investment in the next three years. The company so far has employed over 70 professionals and the number is expected to grow to more than 200 by the end of 2008. It also expects to create about 500 job opportunities in India in the next five years. "India in general and Bangalore in specific represent the best offshore destinations in the world. Studies published by different international research firms position Bangalore as a leading destination for quality talent. A huge pool of highly qualified IT professionals with fluency in English language and a good infrastructure support that attracts foreign investment make the city the IT hub of the world," said Ahmed Al-Oraini, CEO, Mobily InfoTech India. The new center is located in the RMZ NXT complex in Whitefield EPIP area. The center incorporates a high-tech monitoring and operation center in addition to an advanced data center.
